The Game
Padel is a fast-paced racket sport that blends elements of tennis and squash. It’s most commonly played in doubles (2v2), making it a highly social and dynamic game, though singles can also be played. Serves are underhand, and rallies stay exciting thanks to the use of the surrounding walls, adding a strategic twist. The scoring system follows the same format as tennis, so it’s easy to pick up and play.
The Court
Padel is played on a smaller court than tennis (20m x 10m), enclosed by glass walls and mesh fencing. These walls are part of the game, allowing the ball to bounce off them (similar to squash) keeping points alive and creating longer, more tactical rallies. Courts can be found both outdoors and indoors.
The Equipment
Rackets: Padel rackets are solid, stringless, and perforated, with a foam core inside. This makes them lightweight, comfortable to use, and easier to control than traditional tennis rackets.
Balls: Similar to tennis balls, but slightly lower in pressure for better control and longer rallies.
Shoes: Non-marking shoes with good grip are recommended to support quick movements and changes in direction.
At Padel House, we’ve made it easy to book a court and get playing - racquets are included, so all you need to do is bring some balls and your crew, family or colleagues.
